How we got there
Daddy Yankee's La Meta performance was a retrospective of his career; from the early club days to his performances as a worldwide, stadium level artist and beyond. The team worked with the shape language of Daddy yankee's branding and IP to create a production design that was larger than life, encompassing the entire back 1/4 of the arena. Luther Brown and team choreographed 18 dancers and 7 specialty acts. Othan Burnside designed and built 6 full wardrobe looks for the full cast. The lighting and video rig was composed of over 1000 lights, 800 video tiles, and multiple special effects gags.
DY magically appeared above the audience at the front of the arena via a carefully scripted and engineered intro device. Throughout Act I, he performed the earliest music of his career on a stage resembling the island of Puerto Rico. For Act II, Daddy Yankee traveled back and forth over the audience on a moving pod of lighting, performing the Looney Tunes portion of his career. The top of Act III featured the full cast of 25 dancers and specialty acts performing Jefe. It featured the true spectacle of Daddy Yankee in performance and production elements. The entire arena came to life via a 57' tall, over 200' wide video wall, 60' tall lighting towers, and massive flame units. In the 4th act, the team cemented Yankee's status as the G.O.A.T. with a massive stone bust of DY coming out of the stage. Dancers draped behind and in front him him decked in gold as he sat atop his throne. The show culminated in a live drag race above the audience with race tracks spanning the entire length of the audience.
